The Stairs Are the Problem
Every Leucadia beach access is a staircase or worse. Stone Steps is exactly what the name promises. Beacon’s is a sand and dirt trail down a bluff that is one good rain from being a slide. Grandview has the long flight everyone counts on the way back up.
This is fine at four years old. It is not fine at thirteen, and it is not fine for a dog with a bad hip or a heart condition. Plenty of Leucadia owners quietly stopped taking their dog down there years ago and feel guilty about it every time they pass the trailhead.
Our sitters do not force it. A senior dog gets a flat walk on the bluff top, the time he needs, and someone patient. The goal is a dog who is content, not a dog who did a stair workout so the visit looks impressive in the photos.
In Home Pet Sitting for a Neighborhood That Is Always Half Rented
The 101 corridor is full of short term rentals, guest units and second homes. Which means a lot of Leucadia pets already have more disruption in their lives than average: bags coming out, strangers next door every few weeks, a house that keeps changing its mind about what it is.
In home pet sitting subtracts from that instead of adding to it. Your cat keeps her window. Your dog keeps his spot. Nobody gets loaded into a car and dropped at a facility full of animals he has never met. We come to him, and everything else stays exactly where he left it.

Joanne took care of my dog Titan, while I was away for a long weekend business trip. Very prompt and good attention to detail on what to feed him.

She took wonderful care of my pups! I was worried about leaving for any amount of time because one is still a puppy but she was fantastic with her!
